The bachelor at seventy
Learns what it is to fall asleep
At church sometimes
Or getting cragged face over having to rise
For the third time
To silhouette against a bathroom stall
Springs of relief
The flush of self forgetfulness
The mirror image ten years too soon
He throws it back
Throws it to the moon
Well, at least I have my teeth, he croons
then back again to warm a seat
To sing the psalm
"The Lord above knows no defeat"
Back home in his tidy room
The pillow on his bed
once used to wrap around his head
Now, grows younger
