| The Poetry of Rodrigo Villegas |
Murth avoids me now
With hands on hips
He wags his head at me
This infidel
But my Guru...
I say to other ears
Is a living totality of Wisdom and truth
With one foot firmly in this world
And one in the infinite
Only yesterday
in comtemplation with his Daily News
Sitting in the Lotus
He announced to us one and all
In his loving way
"To give up life for forty dollars
Is folly
Life is worth more than forty dollars
If man with knife
Requests the service of your money
For his benefit
Give him your forty
My children
Then walk round corner
To station house
Tell them of your loss
Add an extra naught to your forty
They will never apprehend thief
At end of year
Add loss to income tax return
And soon you will receive your forty
Plus interest
Better than no forty and no life
Think of every thief as bank depositor
Bless him for his services
Take with you but little money
File early for quick return"
